Known Technical Issues
Video Playback
There are two ways to watch lecture recordings. One way is to play the video in your web browser using Adobe's Flash Player and the other way is to download a Windows Media Video (WMV) file and watch it on your computer.
- If Flash video playback doesn't work go to Adobe's website and download the latest version of Flash Player. You can get it here.
- If you are using an Apple computer and want to watch the WMV file you need to get Windows Media Player 9 for MAC OSX. You can get the software here.
- Linux users wishing to view the WMV file can use MPlayer to view watch the video. Program files and codecs are located here.
Jmol Issues
Jmol is a java applet used to view chemical structures in 3D. There are a few LON-CAPA homework problems which use Jmol. Some web browser and operating system combination work fine with it, and others don't. If one web browser doesn't work, try a different one (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari), and make sure you have the latest version of Java's Runtime Environment. You can get the latest version of Java's Runtime Environment here.
Opera Web Browser and Greek Letters
If you are using Opera as your web browser it is quite possible it will not display Greek letters properly. Greek letters are used in some LON-CAPA homework problems. In order to avoid this problem, use a different web browser.
