OFFICE HOURS: T 12-1 in Bio Study Center, AMZ 219, T 1-2 in my office, Th 12-1 in my office, F 11-12 in Bio Study Center, AMZ 219, F 12-1 in my office, or by appointment
1. Second lecture exam is TUESDAY, OCTOBER 5 (Week 6), and covers lecture up through the previous Thursday.
2. The exam will consist of multiple choice questions, fill-ins, and mini essays. You will have the two hour lecture time slot (2-4 PM) to complete the exam. I will hand it back and briefly review it the following Thursday (I hope, unless something unexpected comes up that Wednesday) (you will hand it back before you leave that day, but are welcome to review it further during office hours).
While I haven't written the test and so can't be precise, I am anticipating the following question distribution:
30 multiple choice questions @ 2 points each |
60 points |
6 mini essays @ 15 points each |
90 points |
total |
150 points |
TOPICS to be covered: see course outline"Test 2." Make sure to include a lookover of #2, sternal puncture, #4, myocardial infarction, and #5, atherosclerosis from the Test 1 list. Be prepared to answer these questions at the level presented in the texts. The PA National Boards are very clinically oriented, and so in keeping with that, there will be an emphasis on applied anatomy. I will focus on that material which was at least touched upon in lecture, but I will assume you have gained additional insights supporting lecture material from your review of the texts (Moore and Dalley blue boxes, anyone?) [and even the Grant's Dissector"tidbits"]. In terms of histology, be prepared to make and/or label line diagrams of general organs, and to be able to recognize the differences between normal and abnormal tissues.. The essay questions will be at the level of end of chapter in Moore and Dalley or Van Wysberghe and Cooley scenarios.
Sample multiple-choice questions from a previous year's test, with correct answers listed at the end:
A. it has an abundant blood supply partially derived from cutaneous blood vessels.
B. It is fully encapsulated by a fibrous sheath which separates it from surrounding tissues.
C. Its suspensory ligaments are strands of fibrous tissue that attach to the dermis.
D. Its lymphatic drainage is widespread, but flows mainly to the axillary nodes.
E. It is composed of 15 to 20 lobes of glandular tissue.
A. aortic stenosis
B. aortic regurgitation
C. tricuspid stenosis
D. pulmonic stenosis
E. portal hypertension
answers: 1-B, 2-D
