International Union of Pure and Applied
Chemistry
The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry
(IUPAC) serves to advance the worldwide aspects of the chemical sciences
and to contribute to the application of chemistry in the service of
Mankind. As a scientific, international, non-governmental and objective
body, IUPAC can address many global issues involving the chemical sciences.
News & Notices
Here are the latest News & Notices issued by the Union and the Union's
bodies. Information on the 40th
General Assembly and the 37th
Congress in Berlin, is now available.
Organizations & People
Read about IUPAC to learn who we
are and what we do. View the organization chart, and locate People
within various bodies of the Union. Browse the Index
of Members.
Standing Committees
Nine committees coordinate the work of the Union in various areas
of Chemistry, such as nomenclature and symbols, educational and industrial
concerns.
Divisions
Almost 1000 chemists throughout the world are engaged on a voluntary
basis in the scientific work of IUPAC. Seven divisions -disciplines
of Chemistry- and a total of 36 commissions
-topical sub disciplines- constitute the core of active research.
Projects
IUPAC encourages the submission of projects in all areas of chemistry
relevant to its work. This area contains information on how to submit
a project, on current projects and related information.
Reports
The completion of a project usually results in the preparation of
a report or recommendation. These reports are sorted here by disciplines
and compiled with their references. As part of the reviewing process,
IUPAC seeks public comments -your comments- on provisional
recommendations.

Conferences & Symposia
Each year IUPAC sponsors a large number of symposia that cover a
wide range of specialized topics in chemistry. Look for the calendars
and complete contact information. Information on
how to apply for sponsorship and other conference calendars are
also available.
Affiliate Membership Program - AMP
If you want to become involved in the Union's activity, you will
find here details on the AMP and contact information for the participating
countries.
